Thursday 2008.07.03 - Burpees

We are in California for the 2008 CrossFit Games. We will be posting workouts that don't require (much) equipment. Check back often for pictures.

100 Burpees

Chinup standards at the CrossFit Games will be "chest touches the bar" - great to see!

The first 3 events will take place on Saturday with 4 hour rest between each:
1. Fran
2. 5 Rounds, 5 Deadlifts (275/185), 10 Burpees
3. 750m Hill Sprint (very rough terrain)

The fourth event will take place on Sunday, but will not be announced until Saturday evening.

Should be fun!

Seriously, when I saw the workouts and standards, I swear they made them with you guys in mind ;). I even think you guys will be very competative on the 750m uphill run. I would rather sprint that than run 5km on flatland anyday...I'm curious to see what Sunday will bring.

Mobility Drills

Deadlifts 5-5-5-5-5
135, 185, 225, 255, 295

I did the HQ WOD

"Death by Pullups"
With a continuously running clock do one pull-up the first minute, two pull-ups the second minute, three pull-ups the third minute... continuing as long as you are able.

17 rounds + 6 pullups, 159 total, compare to 080406:
15 rounds + 14 pullups, 134 total (+2 round, 25 pullup PR)

Tore a callous at the end of round 17. Might've had 18 in me if I wasn't concerned about the big hole in my hand.

Hope you guys had a good flight there. You better kill that deadlift/burpee workout. Doesn't seem like there's a lot of guys/girls that can say that weight is < 50%/65% of their max. Tony, chest to bar isn't quite a ban on the butterfly kip, but it's pretty close to getting what you wished for, eh?

Improvised warmup as I couldn't get into my shed to do pullups and knees to elbows so I decided to work on my double unders instead. Managed to get up to 3 before knocking my glasses off onto my driveway, I took that as a hint to stop.

100 burpees

Time: 8:36ish I had the neighbors kids in the way when I sprawled for the stopwatch. It looks about right though as the last time I did G.I Jane it was 12:40

Interestingly enough these 100 burpees didn't make me feel as crappy as burpees normally do.

California Update

We made it safe and sound. Four hours later than expected and no luggage. But we are here.

Met a few competitors at the airport, also met Jeff Tucker while renting a car. Small world.

Will update soon. Must eat. Exhausted.

Oh - weather is awesome. No f-ing humidity!
